Point Bound

Award travel guides

Last updated October 8, 2026

Each guide here covers one airline program: which bank points go there, how to move them, and how to book the flight on the airline's own website.

They're written for people with US credit card points who want to book in their own accounts. Every guide links to the official pages I checked, and the date at the top tells you when I last went through it.

Before you transfer anything

  1. Find the flight first, then transfer. Confirm the seats and the price on the airline's site before you move a single point. Check again right before you transfer.
  2. Transfers can't be undone. Once points are in an airline account, they stay there. Move only what the booking needs.
  3. Names must match on your bank account, airline account and passport. A mismatch is the most common reason transfers fail.
  4. Look for a transfer bonus, but don't wait on one. Banks run them now and then. A seat you can book today is worth more than a bonus that might come later.
  5. Some transfers take time. Most are instant. A few take hours or days, and each guide says what to expect.
  6. If something looks different, stop. A new price, a missing seat or a different ratio on screen is a reason to pause, not to push through.

* Same Citi ratios as above, with two exceptions: AT&T-branded Citi cards can't transfer to American, and the Citi ThankYou Mastercard on its own can't transfer to American or JetBlue. Amex also adds a small fee on transfers to Delta and JetBlue.

Among these six banks, only Citi transfers to American Airlines AAdvantage, only Amex transfers to Delta SkyMiles, and only Bilt transfers to Alaska Atmos Rewards. If your points are with a different bank, a partner program can often book those airlines' flights instead. Each guide says which.

* Same Citi ratios as in the first table, except Emirates: 1,000 to 800 on the full-ratio cards and 1,000 to 560 on the rest.

Only Amex transfers to ANA, and only Bilt transfers to Emirates at 1:1. Chase and Wells Fargo can't reach Qatar directly, but Avios in a British Airways account can be moved across.

Partner lists and ratios change. These were checked in October 2026, and your bank's transfer screen always has the final word.
